Prophetic Intercessory Prayer

Intercessory prayer is a practice we learn and develop as we grow and mature spiritually. It also requires a willingness to enter into prayer whenever the Lord lays it on our hearts, even if it sometimes means long periods behind closed doors.

WE ARE KINGS AND PRIESTS

If you are a born-again Christian you are a priest! The Bible says in First Peter 2:9 we are a royal priesthood! It’s bad enough that Christians are uncomfortable with the term “priest” but Christians are almost completely ignorant of the fact that we are kings!

THE ANATOMY OF A PRAYER

There are many ways we can speak the language of prayer in our gathered worship. We can pray the words of Scripture back to God (especially the Psalms). We can voice extemporaneous prayers as individuals. We can use historic forms such as The Lord’s Prayer, praying together as one voice. I believe that all of these methods of prayer in worship have value, but I’d like to highlight a specific form of prayer – the collect – as a model and method for how we can pray together.
